Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix Translation Patch (In progress) Discussion in 'Code Vault' started by Trilix. FM and played it with the most recent English patch, and that playthrough on Critical mode was probably the most fun I've had with a Kingdom Hearts game thus far (the only games I've not yet played are Re:coded, which I'm halfway finished.

Kingdom Hearts Final Mix is a Japan-exclusive re-release of Kingdom Hearts. It feautures english voice acting with japanese text. Also, it has some additional game material. In this version, Heartless are recolored, there are new cutscenes, new Heartless, new weapons, new enemies, there's a new difficulty level, etc.

As this is a re-release of Kingdom Hearts, the story is the same. Sora, a young boy, lives with his friends, Riku and Kairi, in Destiny Islands. One night, Sora discovers that the islands are being attacked by dark monsters, called Heartless. Sora seeks for Riku and Kairi, he finds Riku but he disappears in a dark portal. Now, Sora gets the Keyblade, which can destroy those Heartless. Now, Sora has to search for his friends with Donald and Goofy (who are searching for King Mickey) through various worlds.

I can't answer your first four questions as I don't currently have access to a PSP.

However, the answer to your last question is yes (Starting from scratch, do new saves load fine in the new version?) . During testing, If I started a brand new playthrough of the game with brand new saves from revisions v0.9.6-696-geb92987 and above (making sure to delete the older savedata created from the older versions of the emulator), the new saves load fine in the newer versions AND ONLY the newer versions.

Older versions do NOT work fine with the saves created from the newer versions. (v0.9.6-696-geb92987 and above).

To put it simply for your benefit:-

Older saves created before v0.9.6-696-geb92987 using the emulator + Older versions before v0.9.6-696-geb92987 = Okay

Newer saves from v0.9.6-696-geb92987 created using the emulator+ Newer versions from v0.9.6-696-geb92987 = Okay

Older saves created before v0.9.6-696-geb92987 using the emulator + Newer versions from v0.9.6-696-geb92987 onwards = Not Okay

Newer saves from v0.9.6-696-geb92987 created using the emulator+ Older versions before v0.9.6-696-geb92987 = Not Okay

I will enable 'Enable Compatibility Reports' in the options for you. I usually don't allow any piece of software to access the Internet without my prior consent for security reasons, I'll also have to add an exception to the emulator in my firewall.

EDIT:- Okay, I've enabled the option, and ran the game 3 times using three versions of the emulator. (0.9.6-696 (corrupted save notification). 0.9.6-693 (save works) and 0.9.6-702 (control)). Hopefully it sent something useful for your perusal.
