I successfully installed NCLEX-RN 4000 on Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium edition. However, I am receiving the error message 'The 'Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0' provider is not registered on local machine' every time I try opening the program. The packaging states that the software is compatible with Microsoft Windows Vista and XP versions. I attempted to open the program using the Program Compatibility Troubleshooter which did not work. I also right clicked on the icon and selected Properties/Compatibility and then selected the most recent Microsoft Windows OS the program is compatible with and applied the settings. To my dismay, this was also a no go. I've done some researching and have read that Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit is not compatible with .msi programs. So, I checked and discovered that the program file does indeed end in .msi.

What can I do to correct this issue so that I may use my NCLEX-RN 4000 program?

Why is Microsoft Windows 7 not backwards compatible?
