While fans will know that this is up to Volume 55 of themanga, there are also non-canonical matches that enables alternate timelines; known as 'Best Match Mode,' for example, ifIppocan defeat DateEiji, he is able to become champion a lot sooner which opens up other opponents which may not have happened in themanga.

- Makunouchi Ippo has been bullied his entire life. Constantly running errands and being beaten up by his classmates, Ippo has always dreamed of changing himself, but never has the passion to act upon it.
